What this site is for

Tinsel Tote exists for one moment: the week after Christmas, when the tree is on the floor in sections, the ornaments are in a heap, and everything has to go somewhere. It is not a decorating site. It is a site for the put-it-away job.

The problem with that job is that almost nothing you need to know is published. Tree storage bags are sold by tree height, which is not the measurement that decides whether your tree fits. Ornament boxes are sold by slot count without telling you the slot size. Bins are sold by gallons, which cannot tell you whether an ornament box stands up inside. Every one of those is a number somebody has, and almost nobody prints.

So we print them. Across 6 categories and 42 pages, every specification we quote carries a link to the manufacturer or retailer listing it came from, and every fit calculation shows its working.

Who writes it

Scooter M.. An enthusiast, which is the accurate word: I got into this the ordinary way, by owning a tree that did not fit back in its box and discovering that no page on the internet would tell me what would.

I am not a professional organizer. I hold no certification in anything relevant and I am not going to invent one. What I do is read manufacturers' specification pages and product manuals, compile the figures, do the arithmetic, and publish it in a form you can check. That work does not require a credential, and a borrowed one would not make the numbers more correct.

What we do not claim

We have not tested any product on this site. We do not own any of them. There is no test lab, no sample cupboard, no durability trial. Every roundup competing with us says otherwise about itself, usually with no protocol and no photographs, and we would rather be the site that says the true thing.

We also do not invent ratings, review counts, awards or “editor's choice” badges, and we do not put our editorial scores into the page's structured data, because a score we computed from published specifications is not a test result and should not be presented to a search engine as one.

How the site makes money

Affiliate commission. When you buy something through a link here, we earn a percentage at no additional cost to you. Tinsel Tote is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

At launch every buy link on the site goes to Amazon at the same category rate, so there is no product we are paid more to recommend than another. No manufacturer has paid for a placement, supplied a product, or seen a page before publication. Details at affiliate disclosure.

Who publishes it

Tinsel Tote is published by Slate Mill Group. It is a national publication with no premises, no storefront and no service area — which is why you will not find a city, an address or a “near me” anywhere on this site.

Getting in touch

If a figure here is wrong, we want to know, and we will correct it and note the correction on the page. Manufacturers change specifications without changing product names, so this genuinely happens.

How often this is updated

Prices refresh daily and disappear if they go more than 48 hours stale. Availability is swept monthly, because a roundup whose top pick cannot be bought is broken. Specifications are re-read against current listings quarterly. And every category page is fully re-verified before 15 October, ahead of the season, because a page about Christmas storage that is stale in November is a page that has failed at its one job.
